A 37 year old Nigerian man, Ibe Godwin Uzochukwu has been sentenced to death by hanging in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia after he was found guilty by a Malysian high court for trafficking 2,150.4 grammes of methamphetamine. He was arrested with the drugs at KL International Airport (KLIA), Sepang in 2011. According to court documents, Ibe was arrested with the banned drugs upon his arrival at the exit Route, KLIA Arrival Hall, at 4.30pm on July 1, 2011. After listening to the submission of the prosecuting counsel, the judge who presided over the case, Datuk Halim Aman, found Uzochukwu guilty and sentenced him to death by hanging.

The police have arrested four suspected robbers at a Lagos market who claimed they did not steal from the traders, but only came to collect their dues. Adenaij Reporters learnt that the suspects- Onyenge Osanie, Azuka Eboh, Ezelonwu Michael and Afolabi Shakiru- were nabbed by the police while they were looting some shops and robbing traders at the Alaba International Market, Ojo, Lagos. The Defence authorities have said that a suicide bomber who rammed a Honda car primed with Improvised Explosive Devices into a military checkpoint in Bajoga, Gombe, State has been killed by soldiers. The Director of Defence Information, Maj. Gen. Chris Olukolade, said in an electronic mail on Wednesday that the suicide bomber successfully rammed the bomb-laden Honda car into the military checkpoint but the bombs failed to explode. A 14-year-old girl, Zahra'u Babangida, who was arrested with explosives strapped to her body has revealed to journalists that her parents volunteered her to take part in a suicide attack. Zahra'u was arrested in Kano after the December 10 twin bombing in a market that killed 10 people. She said this while police paraded her before journalists and instructed her to recount how Islamist militants allegedly forced her to take part in the attack. According to her, her mother and father, who are both Boko Haram sympathisers, took her to one of the hideouts of the terrorists in a forest near the town of Gidan Zana in Kano state. 3, 000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the aegis of Justice Group have left party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos. According to reports, leader of the group, Chief David Abidakun explained that they are leaving the APC in Lagos and the south west. "We are not counting the number of people here but our membership. We have a membership of over 70, 000 in the South West and all of us will join the PDP in our various states in the South West after the formal ceremony," Abidakun said. Explaining why the group left the APC, he said it was because they were being marginalised. "We believe that the PDP is a place to be and so we have decided to be part of the winning team."
