The Peace Accord Committee has congratulated President Goodluck Jonathan for conceding defeat and congratulating his opponent, the All Progressives Congress’s candidate, Muhammadu Buhari. According to PremiumTimes, the chairman of the committee and former Head of State, Abdusalami Abubakar, who spoke to journalists after a closed-door meeting with the President, said the committee was spellbound when Mr. Buhari informed them that Mr. Jonathan had called to congratulate him. “We were at the middle of a meeting with the international observers to try to see how we can still water the tension down, when gladly I called Gen. Buhari that we are going to see him,” Mr. Abubakar said. “He told me that Mr. President has called him at about 5:15 p.m. and congratulated him and conceded defeat.

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has hailed President Goodluck Jonathan and the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari(retd.), for their fighting spirit in the ongoing presidential poll. PDP publicity secretary, Olisa Metuh spoke to Channels TV on the outburst of their party agent Elder Godsday Orubebe at the collation center this morning. What he told Chanels TV below "In a democratic process, we must follow democratic channels. Yesterday we questioned the opposition party about certain things they had done to challenge states. We expect our members to follow the same process as well. This party has a tradition of decency and will follow democratic channels to lay complaints. Ours is to protest and make our voices heard through recognized channels and wait for democratic process to be followed. The presidential election results for 26 states has so far been announced and right now, APC is still leading with 10,462,670 votes while PDP has 9,953,432 votes. The difference is 509,238 votes. The election announcement will continue in about 30mins. They are on recess. We still have Sokoto, Borno, Zamfara, Kebbi, Taraba, Benue, Adamawa, Bauchi, Delta and Edo. Fingers crossed!

The PDP party agent at the Collation center in Abuja, Elder Godswill Orubebe is currently staging a protest at the INEC result collation center alleging that Prof Jega has been compromised. According to him, Professor Jega has been selective, partial and is tribalistic. He said APC had written a letter to INEC concerning an alleged rigging in Rivers state which he immediately sent a committee to investigate the issue but that when PDP wrote protest letters on the elections in Katsina, Kaduna and Jigawa,, Jega did not send anyone to attend to their protest. The Lagos State Police Command have apprehended a 26 year old pregnant woman, simply known as Onyiyechi, who allegedly stabbed her husband to death after they had had an argument over who would emerge as the winner between the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressive Congress Presidential candidates after the announcement of the elections. The incident happened while voting was ongoing this past weekend at the Ejigbo, LGA of Lagos State at about 12:00pm. It’s been reported that this incident threw the densely populated area into disarray.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned all the suits challenging the eligibility of presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari,till April 22 and 23, 2015.
