A major tragedy was averted yesterday in Lagos, when a man jumped into the river on the Mile Two Bridge in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area. The unidentified man, according to eyewitnesses, stood on the bridge for some minutes, loudly expressed bitterness over his sufferings and how things had gone bad for him and his helplessness. Ekiti State Government has cleared the air on the status of the four persons that died during the week at Egbe Dam in Gbonyin Local Government Area of the state, saying the victims were neither World Bank officials nor staff of Ekiti State Government. The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a man, Surakat Idowu, for allegedly brutalising his five-year-old daughter with a hot iron in the Ikotun area of the state. PUNCH Metro learnt that 45-year-old Idowu, who separated from his wife in 2013, allegedly tortured the girl with an iron in the face and in the private parts on Monday. A FORTY-two-year-old lady, Mrs. Mary Matthew, was yesterday paraded by the Police in Akure, the Ondo State capital, for allegedly maltreating her late younger sister's five-year-old daughter, Precious Michael. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Borno on Thursday said that it had arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly raping an Internally Displaced Person. The NSCDC Commandant in the state, Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Maiduguri that the 13-year-old victim from Chibok, was staying with her aunt at the Colori Camp. Police are hunting two men for raping a 27-year-old man in a park. According o Metro UK , the man was attacked as he walked through Goffs Park in Crawley, Sussex, on Friday morning by the pair.
