Tribunal Orders Fresh Governorship Election In Rivers State, Sacks Wike


 So Rivers State Election Petition Tribunal today, Saturday, 24th of October, 2015 sacked Nyesom Wike as the Governor of Rivers State and ordered a fresh governorship election in the State. Wike who contested under PDP and was strongly supported by former First Lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan was declared the State Governor after the April 11 governorship election.

Dakuku Peterside, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the last election however filed a petition challenging his victory, and the result is what has just been announced by the tribunal.

President Jonathan To Be Served Impeachment Notice On Dec 3

According to Rep. Mohammed Tahir Monguno, President Goodluck Jonathan is to be served with impeachment notice when the House of Representatives reconvene on Wednesday. Senators and members of the House of Representatives had commenced collecting signatures for the removal of the president after the November 20 security siege on the National Assembly. During the siege, the speaker of the House Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and other lawmakers were teargased by the police. House members began collecting signatures that same day while senators followed suit two days after. And already, 200 members and about 60 senators were said to have thrown their weight behind moves to oust the president.
