PDP's Muazu Babangida Aliyu Loses to APC in His Backyard

image Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu,has lost out as the senator representing Niger East Senatorial District at the National Assembly. Gov.Aliyu's aspirations has been dashed as the All Progressives Congress candidate, Barrister David Umaru, led with a wide margin on Sunday. While announcing the results at the senatorial election collation centre at the College of Education, Minna on Sunday night, the Returning Officer for Niger East Senatorial District, Prof. Ali Audu Jigam of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, said in Chanchaga Local Government Area, the APC Umaru scored 49,519 votes while Aliyu got 17,209 votes. The APC candidate got 18,887 votes in Gurara Local Government Area to defeat the PDP candidate who scored 6,520 votes, while in Shiroro Local Government Area, APC polled 27,191 votes as against 7,519 votes for PDP.
